advice & information for disabled people of all ages,
including children, and their families.
CONFIDENTIAL, FREE, INDEPENDENT & IMPARTIAL
bucksdin is the only disability information & advice service in Buckinghamshire which is specifically for people of all ages, including children, with a long term illness or disability whether that is physical, sensory or learning. It is a registered charity and has been running since 1992 since when it has helped thousands of people with their information needs and benefits advice. bucksdin was successful in 2004 in a bid to the National Lottery for funding to run a specialised disability benefits advice service. The service operates throughout Buckinghamshire holding regular open sessions at various venues, and appointments both in the fully accessible centralised office and making home visits where mobility is a problem.
bucksdin is CONFIDENTIAL, FREE, INDEPENDENT & IMPARTIAL
It`s staff and trustees all have personal experience
of disability.
Over the past year bucksdin helped its clients to claim over £760,000 in benefit entitlements. A remarkable achievement for a service with only 2 full time and 1 part time member of staff.
This web site is a new venture for us and we hope to develop it according to the needs of our clients, so do let us know what you would like to see. We would like to thank a mystery benefactor for giving us the funding to produce it. She saw the recent publicity and offered her support to publicise bucksdin to a wider audience.
Unfortunately we are at present having a funding crisis.
bucksdin had been continuously funded by Local Authorities and Primary Care Trusts since its inception but this has now been withdrawn due to their own financial cutbacks. This is particularly ironic as bucksdin was recently awarded the prestigious national Community Legal Service Quality Mark which gives it a governmental seal of approval for its work.
We must thank Mr Roger Jefcoate for helping us with advice on fundraising and to the Disability Aid Fund for their recent generous donation.
